Tony Wattie was born in Victoria, British Columbia. He served in the Canadian Artillery, retiring with the rank of Captain. Tony attended the University of British Columbia, focusing on Political Science and Economics, and graduated with Honours in 1964. He then attended the University of Toronto Law School from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 1967. Tony then moved back to British Columbia where he articled in Vancouver at the law firm of Russell Dumoulin, where he practiced for seven years in the firm’s bankruptcy, bonding and construction law departments. In 1974 Tony was invited by Peter Linley and Larry Duignan to join them in the law practice of Linley Duignan, and Tony practiced there until May 1, 2010, when Linley Duignan merged with Welwood Wiens Warkentin to become Linley Welwood LLP, where Tony practices today.
Tony practices primarily in the fields of commercial litigation, including marketing boards, estate litigation, bankruptcy law and personal injury. Tony has appeared before all three levels of Superior Court in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada on four occasions.
Tony has been involved with Big Brothers of the Fraser Valley and Boy Scouts. His hobbies include walking, playing bridge, reading, opera, gardening, and babysitting his granddaughter. He resides here in Abbotsford within walking distance of the office, which is great for his health, as he is a cancer survivor.
