More about Les

Les was meticulous when it came to carefully understanding the facts and law, as well as in crafting an argument to bring a successful result to his client.  He had a long history of making important law in civil matters, such as the decision regarding contractual certainty in construction contracts (2007 BCSC 1944 (CanLII) | Rafal v. Legaspi | CanLII), among many others.

Les was at the forefront of developing new approaches to legal problems and exploring creative ways to resolve disputes. He always insisted on a fair result for his clients.  His patient merit-based approach to settlement discussions often lead to an economically beneficial outcome for his clients.

Les was incredibly generous with his time and resources, regularly investing in honing the skills of his peers and young lawyers.  He was equally generous with his clients and did not easily suffer an injustice because of financial constraints.

Les’ passion was always helping the underdog, the under privileged and the working person.  His contributions to the Builders Lien Act Reform Committee will help protect a working class of tradespersons.

Les loved people, golf, fishing and outdoorsmanship.  He cared for people in all walks of life, with various opinions, political views, perspectives and lifestyles.
